so where are the p h e w group
so where are all the phew group activists instead of screaming their lungs out over here where we have a well run fishery they should have a bit of integrity and guts and get stuck into groups who are killing the oceans great fishes. typical isn't it consevation groups will scream and dance where there isn't a problem, but when there trully needs something done about the rape and pillage that 3rd world countries are conducting on the oceans they are not to be seen. phew and other groups totally lack integrity and honesty.

They are on the issue. Don't
They are on the issue. Don't know about PEW individually but there are marine conservation organisations all over the world making noise about these things. But its not going to make a big difference until more support is thrown there way. Lets hope it won't be too late as not sure if everyone knows this but all the worlds oceans are interconnected... So what happens some where else in the world will effect hear as well.
Shameful video and i wonder why it was ever even filmed..

Thats bad
but the heading on this thread is
"commerical fishing. and their dislike for recreational fishing."Is there something in the translation, cos the video doesnt seem to have anything to do with this heading?
Let me assure you that the Longline industry here rarely landed anything under 20kg plus and even then only if it was knackered.
Ive never even seen that many kakas in a 14 day trip let alone in one shot. You'd get laughed off the jetty and out of the fish markets if you tried to sell that shit here.
Anyone know where this was filmed?

translated from the info for anyone who was wondering
Fishery associations and political forces are fighting to amend the Community rules on fishing bans fishing: the use of the hook no. 7 with the technique of the line makes a real slaughter of small swordfish.

Most fishing fleets are no
Most fishing fleets are no longer mum and dad and sons like the old days. Most now are owned by corporations like Mitsubishi. They are after there share of what the resource has to offer for a quick return. They really don't care if fish stokes are run out. Better for them as they keep years of fish on ice pushing up the price of there stock.
Look at BF tuna. With the massive decline they are now worth in the tune of three figures..
