Hi all
Just wondered again about the go to bait for crabbing. Cleaned out the bait freezer and found some 100yo squid bait at the bottom. Decided to just ditch it but then thought I wonder how this would go as crab bait. Tested it on a run with five pots with the trusted chicken necks and 5 with the old squid, and was very surprised. It way outfished the necks!!
Every string delivered more crabs on the squid. Now I wouldnt use that due to $$$ but if I have some old stuff left will use it again for sure.
Anyone else used odd crab bait with success and what is the go to??

Not sure about that Andy..found shit squid to still work late arvo even halve cooked from the sun.
Fresh is best for sure, but recon it will still catch fish.

I just grab packs of lamb necks from the butcher if I'm pressed for time. They certainly weren't out fished by anyone else last weekend down in Australind.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

You need bars of gold to get lamb necks up here. It's cheaper to buy chops.
