Kalgan River
One good breamining option would have to be the Kalgan River
You can laucnh just off to the side of the bridge that crosses it (same road that goes out to Two PEoples Bay & Little Beach)
If you're staying at Emu Point(we usually do every year but this year had a hiatus), laucn at the marina and have a tonk around oyster harbour; yuo may get something in the channel that feeds into King George Sound.
You could drive out to Two Peoples Bay (around 30kms I think from Emu Point) and beach launch there and work the bay for Squid, Whiting, Breaksea Cod, and Harlequin fish
Have Fun !
I love Albany - very relaxing

Staying at Emu Point
Yep staying at emu point caravan park. Thanks for the tips, most appreciated. This may be a stupid question given the name of the place but can you get KGW in King George sound?

Supposedly
But the history behind the name is here

Wikipedia says
there's KGW in the sound so must be right eh?
I'll give it a crack, if I managed to land one I'll report back.
Thanks for the wiki link, always nice to know a little local history

KG Heaven
So it turns out that the sound is full of KG! Caught heaps of them and all were over 30cm. I fish for the future so only kept 4 each day for eating and all the rest were successfully returned.
Also plenty of herring, 1 salmon and about 5 rays.

Absolutely worth while.
Absolutely worth while. Beautiful little town and from a fishing perspective, when the wind blows up there's always a sheltered bay somewhere!

I'm heading down here Friday
I'm heading down here Friday and going to drag the tub as the wind looks ok Saturday and Sunday. Definitely not keen to venture outside of protected waters with the predicted 2m swell in unfamiliar waters but can anyone point me in the right direction in regard to depth to chase some KGs with the kids? I'll be launching from Emu Point and planning on trying for some squid in 4m along Middleton Beach and then checking out some of the broken ground/sand patches in around the 10m mark I can see on Nearmap or around Cheyne Ledge.
Cheers JF
