The other 8 or 9 kg Dhuie (Can't remember which is which)

Successive drifts over the one lump produced an 8kg Dhuie, a 9 kg Dhuie and that big Baldy I just posted. We left them still biting, content with a feed between us.

i have been trying to get a big dhuie like that for ages all mine have been just under size. i have picked up a few pointers off an artical that you wrote in a fishing magazine, thanks.
did you catch that one in perth?

The secret to big dhuies in my opinion is to go BIG!!!
Big hooks, Big Bait, and use attractors if you want.
Make sure your drifts are over prime ground, so short quick drifts and then back over the spot. I would have to say that 90% of my 10kg plus dhiues have come from no more than 20m away from structure, be that a lump or flat coral.
Long drifts over featureless ground will not produce as many of the big ones as concentrating your effort over the productive stuff.
Try the "Super snell" rig which was described in the article I think you are referring to, it really has improved my catch rate significantly.
