thats everyones nightmare hitting a large object when out on the water , is there anymore info on the storey , who had right of way lol , couple boys did the same at Gnaraloo a few years back but after their hospital visit they still manged a few more days fishing out in the damaged boat
At least the hull will throw the spray further from the boat now. I wander if you are covered for something like this. Must have rocked their world hitting that beast.
I was at cataby when i was cuming back from Jurien and we saw that boat parked up there. we started having a chat with the two blokes with the boat. they said the boat was only 10hours old and they were crusing back to Exmouth marina at about 20knts when they hit the whale, they were about 1 km offshore. they reckon the boat got completely airborne and the driver broke 2 or 3 ribs. the other bloke came out ok but scared the living sh#@ out of them and they said the felt lucky to be alive. it made there trip a fair bit shorter but they came out of it alive.
You should of seen inside the cabin totally mangled up with stress cracked all the way down to the stern, pretty sure it would have been a complete write off.
Makes you wonder if the whale was the one that ended up at the ramp getting eaten by tiger sharks.I am sure it wouldnt just swim away as if nothing had happened.I know tin boxes bash you around but that is one good hit to do all that.
for sale , slightly modified boat , not good to see but those blokes are lucky to be still walking, not the sort of thing i would want to happen , just think what it would have been like if the boat was glass, megga ouch
I was driving round Welshpool yesterday, came up to this boat from behind on a truck, was thinking Wow what a nice boat, had a double take when i saw the front!!!!! Then remembered this thread!
Here's a question would that boat be a write-off for insurance? Looks like it'd be pretty hard to fix. Being in the trade the ali's all stretched so it can't be panel beated, and to cut out a section would leave it structually unsound methinks.Makes me think of the fast run homes at Gnaraloo Hmmm might drop back to 15knots from now on.

I hope he wasn't going too fast
The driver might have lost a few teeth and the whale would have suffered a big headache.

Thats one scary proposition. Lucky to make it to shore without a completely split hull.

If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

So tell me have you got your info from years on the water or hours on the internet?
