Dhu i saw it on the edge of a dropoff, and cast to it, it hit it on the 7or 8th cast with a Sebile Flatt Shad 96SK, sharp lift and drop retrieve. Hard to tell, haven't seen a lot of fish around yet, but it's always worth a shot! I've had pretty good success over the last few years all through this area, already a few on the board this year, my second on the Flatt Shad. This fish was in superb condition, weighed almost 9kg, and was thick as a tank, one of my best so far this year.

Thats an awesome pinky there Bretty. Would have to be pretty happy getting one that size let alone seeing it on the sounder first and nailing it on a lure!

I have the HB 798 on the yak mate, so it reveals all!! We dont move too fast on the yaks, so we don't tend to miss much either! For example, heres a few fish from last week, didn't want to hit anything, but they were there;

Great fish finding tools

Tue, 2011-05-24 15:16

Great fish finding tools arent they. Hows the fish arches! Yet to pickup any definite arches myself. Looks like a fair bit of 'stuff' in the water in the middle of the screen thats also on the sidescan. Was that bait, turbluence, super high gain, etc? Looks distinctive to the fish.

Mate its a poor example for a sidescan!!

Tue, 2011-05-24 20:06

 Nothing really to speak of in that pic except bare sand... The haze you see is disturbed water, and you can just see the edges of the school that's right under me.

After filleting that fish, i'm pretty confident it's almost the biggest Pinky i've caught, thick, solid, with broad shoulders and a huge chest and gut. Every bit of the 9kg it weighed just after capture, heres another pic that shows the thickness a bit better!!
