Hey all. Trying to get this going for my sister to sell. Put a car battery on it and disconnected the fuel tank, emptied the filter under the cowling and ran the fuel line straight from the bulb into a jerry can and it tried to kick a couple of times but no joy.
It's been sitting in a paddock since 2019 but was regularly serviced before that.
Can anyone please give me a tip on getting it to turn over?
Its a Yami 115hp 4 stroke

Sounds like fuel
It's either spark or fuel, in gear/ safety lanyard
bit of fuel in the spark plug cavity's
usual gets it diagnosed if it starts

Check for spark
Back in the day you'd pull a plug and earth it out on the head and turn the engine over checking for spark, if that checks out put the plug back in, wind it over a few times and pull a plug out see if its getting wet with fuel.

Could be gummed up fuel in
Could be gummed up fuel in the carby. You could try giving that a clean .

Fuel injected ?
Think it might be fuel injected - no carby ?

Its a yammi surely can't be much I have an old 90hp 2banger bullet proof from what I'm told. Im sure it's something simple. Sorry none of this helps you other than don't get too technical. Fresh fuel?

I'm assuming that it was running in 2019 and simply parked, not cooked and left to rot?
Theres some good suggestions above already, but I'll go thru the whole process anyway.
Its not going to be the plugs, all 4 wouldnt shit themselves simultaneously
agree with above, its cranking well and very likely to be a simple issue. Start with the simple and quick and don't dismantle anything until you've narrowed down the issue, sounds like compression is ok

Fuel problem
As has been mentioned try the Aerostart down the intake trick to check for spark ,if it coughs my money is on either a stuck high pressure pump or stuck injectors . Fuels in the last 10 years or so are horrible and I've had multiple problems with carbs or injection when the fuel dries up ( as this one would have from sitting) and the parts stick .
if your handy with a test light or meter check for power at the pump too .

The old man had another crack
The old man had another crack at this and put some fresh fuel in the cylinders and reckons she kicked over for about 10 seconds and then conked out pumping the bulb with fresh fuel from a jerry can.
I got him to put his ear next to the high-pressure fuel pump while my sister turned the key to auxiliary and he reckons he didn’t hear anything whereas my Suzuki has an audible sound of the high pressure fuel pump each time I switch it to aux.
He checked and replaced all the fuses and still nothing so I am fairly confident it’s a shagged high pressure fuel pump from sitting there for a few years like fish mentioned above?
Can anyone with a Yamaha let me know if the high pressure pump makes an audible sound when turning the key to aux similar to my Suzuki?

Fuel pump
Some pumps are quieter than others . But you would definitely hear or feel the pump with your fingers if the key is on . Having said that it may require a crank signal to prime ( I'm not fully up to speed with all the brands ) I would still suggest a quick test light on the pump when cranking or if you have a bit of wire kicking around run a feed straight off the battery to the pump to rule out everything ( wiring / fuses / relays etc etc ) .
You might get lucky with a hot wire to the pump and a couple of screwdriver taps to free it ( stranger things have worked
