Windscreen for Tinny

Hi guys,

l'm thinking of getting a windscreen for my tinny to keep out the water as the spray just flys into my new boat! I measured the tinny curvature and the total length is 1.55m

I actually went down to bunnings and took a look  at the perspex but it was very inflexible and expensive @ $55 bucks for just 1 meter. Also i would have to fashion a frame and i have no idea how to do this.

Pic as attached. Any advice on how to get it organised and approximate cost is appreciated.

 Cheers

heat it up

the only way i know of curving it is to heat it up.  to do this you would have a frame already made and heat/bend the perspex to suit and attach it before it cools.  As for the frame you would want to make it out of aluminium and would probably have to get an ali fabricator to make it due to the curve you will want.  I imagine this wont be very cheap so maybe you could salvage 1 off an old boat at some sort of boat wreckers or the like.  good luck

mate you are probably better to look at spray deflectors front & sides.....windscreen isn't going to do it for that boat?

Could get some side rails

Could get some side rails made up by a ali fabricator then fit the side curtains,or make up a frame out of ali angle to make a centre frame then make two side ones is not that hard to do have done both jobs before on previos boats plus on a mates tinny

requires angle grinder, jigsaw, rivets and patience, or go see the boys at k craft in belmont or technifire in canning vale, or you may be able to find somone who is wrecking a boat on the quokks I just picked up a 4.2 mt dingy off there today for free bit of a project to work on.

a cheaper option is some

a cheaper option is some good wet weather gearLaughing, the side spray deflectors are a better way to go. i have seen them on tinnies before and they seem to work
