Trying to install a software up-date to Lowerance LCX 112C

Down loaded a software up-date onto an SD card, the Lowerance GPS/sounder dosen't see it. Nor are any selections available in the save files or file transfer.

Wrong format maybe? anyone done this?

I had the LCX 27C and found that the size of the SD card was the problem. If you can, use one close in size to the size of the download. From memory the card that worked and others didn't was a puny 8MB. 1GB didn't work, too big I think. Hope that helps.

Cheers

Problem is I'm using an 8MG SD card. I've just installed the unit, and seem to be getting noise on the sonar screen, thought I had better up-date the software first before looking for other causes. I will have to take it in to an agent to get them to do the work I'm thinking, I have played about with it too much.

Normally that's not a software problem. I had the same issues with my 112c, it ended up being poor placement of the transducer. I moved the tranny 6 inches further away from my motor, and sat it down a little further in the water, and whammo, she's all sweet
Hope that helps

When greasemonkey came and got a fuel tank off me, he mentioned the big improvement he got from up-dating the software. It was my thoughts that before I played around with the transducer to get the update installed first.

I have mounted the transducer deep on the right-hand side as near the bottom as possible and according to instructions, its the deep water 600w skimmer type. My boat is different in as much as the motor is mounted aft off the transom by at least 600mm on a frame not a pod. I thought that prop effect would be minimal with it so far away from the transducer.
