Some Crackin Yakkin'

With all the yadda-yadda going on at the moment, we are in need of some more fish shots. The yak boys were into it again last week with these two, Matt's went 15kg and mine about 19kg.

Everythings waterproof mate,

and tethered, or stowed. We have practiced getting back into an overturned yak so doesn't worry me really. Probably lose things like bait, catch, depending on where it's stowed, but expensive gear, no wai!

Adam mainly fish 20lb braid on mid size reels. I caught both mine on a Nitro distance Spin and Banax si1600 combo. Pound for pound, there not the toughest fighters around.

Nice fish Brett. 19kg is a cracker (or is that a croaker?).

Think I saw you out in mossies one night. I've heard of kayaks being tied together when offshore for stability and safety, but how does that make fighting the fish? Thought I saw 3 kayaks in mossies which might make maneourvability a bit hard?

Youre dead right mate.

Tying together would be a pain as you couldnt bring the fish alongside, would be stable, but really unworkable for yak fishing.

Really with the Sit on top Kayaks like ours, stability isint a problem.

These yaks in the river were really close together so wondering how it goes. Thought they might stick close together (in the river, I'd guess the purpose is a bit of a yarn :p). When someone hooked up, I presumed they would move, or fish over the top of the other yaks? These guys had full gear and nav lights, so thought it coulda been you (woulda yelled out to say hello, but that might of scared the elusive mulloway away)

Super Fish!!

Must be a nice feeling floating around a calm (hopefully) river on a warm evening. A fish would be a bonus

You might have to bring a spare yak along to tow your catch around the way you guys are going.

Some great fish there Brett

Some great fish there Brett and Matt.  The croakers have been very loud of late when diving.  Would love to eyeball one in the river, but they are obviously to shy, as I have never seen one after 15 years of diving the river.

Found a mulla rig on Monday night hooked up on a dive line to the wrecks - beads, light, cork - interesting rig setup, having never fished for them before.  A live prawn would have to be a good bait!

Cheers Pete
