Hey boys,
I'm checking into getting a fishing boat in the next year or so. Mate of mine sent me the following link and said if he was in the market, this is what he would be getting. I value his advice as he has lived/fished/boated off WA for 40 years.

I thought I would ask if any of y'all have been in one of these tubs, or if you know anything about them. They look the goods, but would love and knowledge you have to share with me.
cheers!

Have you been in many cats
Have you been in many cats before or just monohulls? A lot of guys swear by cats, but I dont like them. They might be good at certain things like punching into a oncoming sea, but apparently they can be harder to drive in a following sea (I havent driven one though). I did hear one story of someone who was demonstrating it in a following sea and the guy was impressed, but when he went to drive it, it was horrible. Turned out you needed to adjust both throttles just right to get it to run smooth in that way. Not sure if thats common though (I think it was a pretty big cat).
The one thing i'm at least confident when it comes to cats, is their at rest stability. Sure they're stable in flat water if everyone piles to one side, but they seem to roll helps in a swell, not fun. One pontoon goes up then the other, instead of the whole boat just moving up and down. I wouldnt buy one for that reason, but if you've been on cats and dont mind then it could be a good option perhaps (just make sure you've been fishing on a cat in non-so-smooth seas just so you know).

I'll be sorry to see her go she's an awesome little ship - they are a different cat to a mono hull for sure( pardon the pun). I 've just pumped more money into her than I can substantiate to the better half in setting her up - other than that she's ready to go. Really stable - love the ride- soft as - wishing I wasn't selling her but thats the way it is.
Cheers

Looks like a good cat eddie which is reasonably priced. Just take it for sea trials before you commit.

Have dived regularly out of 3
Have dived regularly out of 3 cats, 2 markhams (5 and 5.9m) and 1 leisurecat ( 8m). To be truthful the smaller boats went much better, the big boat was a pig of a thing diving and I hated the 2 X 300hp screws coming down on my head in a swell! Having said that anything out of ZA is hard core, their conditions are worse than ours and their regulations are tougher.

That might have been its problem, for a massive lump of glass it didn't ride any better than an 18 footer.
