SaturdayDhus

Hit it early Saturday and it was on from the first drift. All my spots were producing dhus around 8-10kg and we couldnt find anything else besides an undersize black arse, a tuna and couple of squid on the metal jigs so gave up around lunchtime. One mark in 24m had a school on it and resulted in a triple hookup as soon as we hit the bottom. Max depth of 32m and all fish were brought up slowly and released well.
Epic conditions out there

Thanks Steve, Great setup.
Thanks Steve, Great setup. I'm tempted by the same Garmins. I like some of the features like the ability to save a set of screens and even the sounder settings are saved with the screens. They also make good thru hull options as you have.

Probably the best sounder
Probably the best sounder shots I've ever seen Stevo. Showed my boys the pics and they are fanging to get out, did you head to the same area as last Saturday?
Love the West!

Steve, how does that picture
Steve, how does that picture clarity hold up as you bring on power and speed? I've got similar picture with transom mount at that speed but goes to shit after moving much off idle speed. Do you have other transducers hooked up to that pair of units?
It's great to see some real life images in Perth waters of these sounders when in the market for new gear. The bottom lock on Garmin seems to work OK.. at least in ideal conditions...

Hey Mate, I had a Fuuno
Hey Mate, I had a Fuuno NavNet VX2 running an Airmar B744 (600w 50/200kHz Thru Hull in a hi-performance fairing) before i got the Garmins. Its now hooked up to the Garmins aswell. It read superb at speed with the Furuno before and does now with the Garmins too. It will show structure at 28kts which can be marked via the touchscreen and run back over at slower speeds to comfirm/check for fish.
The GT51 still reads the bottom at speed well but has a little more clutter on the screen where as the B744 is clear as. I reckon its the shape of the fairing. At the moment I use the traditional 200kHz B744 when cruising/travelling to spots and switch over to the GT51 Chirp when checking spots or fishing.
Im about to pull the B744 out and replace it with a Airmar B265LH. Then I will have 1kw high frequency chirp for bottom fishing, 1kw Low chirp for deep drop and the GT51 with Mid band chirp, downscan and sidescan and the ability to show any or all sonars across the two screens at the same time.
Im wrapped with the Garmins.
These photos taken after I finished installing the GT51 on the right, B744 on the left. Had to mount the GT51 as close to the keel as possible so it hangs down far enough that the port side scan element isnt blocked by the keel.
