Raymarine a65 comments and dealer?

Hi,

interested in opinions and dealers for the Raymarine A65? Its a combo gps/chartplotter/fishfinder. Sure I'd also love the C80 with the ability to add in radar and radio, but its overkill for the intended application.

Cya,

I'm on the whitworth site now and they have it for $1879 but then I'd need to buy maps as well.

I notice some US dealers

I notice some US dealers sell a 3rd party warranty that gets your unit picked up and delivered, as well as serviced in Aus for free. Then someone on another forum mentioned that another brand, if they get non-aus stock sent to them, they just don't return them (!!!). Bit of a lottery really.

For Raymarine and Furuno, if the unit was fitted to a boat in the US, then the boat imported with the unit, they will honor the warranty.

The Ray units are good and very easy to use. You will have to buy the maps for any unit you get anyway.  Think that only Navman packages with the maps when they have a special.

Sounds like you got a tub already!

Oh I wish, its down to the nitty-gritty though. Just a little dingy this year, should be fun though.

Speaking of maps though, how does the level of detail differ between the various Navioncs maps? I see a note that I may not get all the functions on platinum unless I get an C120 (i wish), but does that mean I'd get nothing out of it?

I guess it boils down to Navioncs Gold XL9 CF (all of aus, $385) as the best bet.

Anyone know what happens if you have the SD version and put it in a SD to CF adapter?

Hmm thanks for the advice but my bro has a hardon for either Furuno or Raymarine and won't even chip in for anything else.
