Prop for etec

    Gday to all.

I have a plate ali 5.5m boat with an evinrude etec 115 hp with v6 gearcase. The boat has 5mm bottom 4mm sides ect and weighs 1250kg lightly loaded. When we had the engine fitted it came with a BRP viper 14 3/4 x 17  s/s prop and wot was 5000 rpm @50 kph . Since then we have purchased another prop 14 1/2 x 15 also s/s from another company. This time we get 5400 rpm @50 kph on returning to the company to see what our next prop choice should be as the engine should rev to about 5750 rpm we were informed there was not much else. The company then suggested raising the outboard on the transom if the rpms increased come back and they would cup the prop. Have since lifted the engine but didnt gain any increase in engine revs . Has anyone got a similar set up with a 115hp etec 25 '' leg and if so.

                                                    Do you know .

                                                                               1. How much your boat weighs.

                                                                               2. wot rpm.

3.how fast does your boat go .

                                                                               4.what prop do you have.

                                                                                                                             .

good luck mate, had similar problems, with my 150.

Your tubs a heavy boat going of your weight and the 115 would be working hard to push it, should of gone with the 130 or 150 if your looking for speed.

Not many more props to try other than the rogue, that may help .

Have a look at this site for more etec info good and bad.

Holth thanks for your input. What type of boat is your etec 150 hanging off.

Could you get wot with prop selection available.

                                                                   Cheers Graeme.

was on a 650 Northshore. l could just get the optimum rpm with a 16'' Viper but wasnt the best allround prop for my boat. A 15'rebel would of been great but couldnt spin it up enough to optimum. Got robbed by solas on one of there props, made a good wall mount.

other than spending countless dollars on props for very little gain youll have to live with it.

etec prop

Hi mate. I have an Allison 189 and while I haven't been over a weighbridge, a rough estimation of hull, engine, half a tank of fuel and a bit for all the other things we all accumulate on board, I expect it would come in somewhere between 1100 and 1200 kg. I also run the etec 115, unfortunately I don't know the prop specs, and I can't see them on the prop( I assume I'd need to remove it for that?) but it's also a s/s Viper.  The top speed is around the 33 knots, which is 59 ks, and I think that has her running at about 5800rpm. I've put a foil on her, before that was fitted she would nudge 35 knots. Hope that helps...

Red dawn thanks for your comments.Your prop specs should be in the centre of the prop hub around the outside of the prop nut washer, you may need to give it a wipe to clean the exhaust carbon off.
