i read alot about 2 stroke outboards burning alot of oil i come from a 2t motorcross back ground why would you use the oil injection over premixing fuels? what sort of ratios do the mix at? i run all my bikes at 40:1 full synthetic oil and have never had a problem. please enlighten me good bad or otherwise

arse ache pre mixing that
arse ache pre mixing that much fuel i guess plus it doesn't have as much of a shelf life once mixed
If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

depends on motor and age
I am sure the new ones are pretty good but my 97 Johnson was running rougher with the injection. a few boat mechanics said that the ratio was a bit all over the place and recommened to dissconnect and do away with it which I have and havent had a problem with since. My type of motor is renown for being smokey and that hasnt changed all though I see plenty of other boats that are very smokey.
I agree with Grayze about the shelf life of fuel as I have a 70l underfloor tank and a 40hp motor my usual trips I dont use half a tank and sometimes its a few weeks between trips so when I top up I use premium fuel to put some zing back in it. I am going to get my hands on a product called stabil which is a fuel additive that may solve this problem.
Forgot to mention my boat was using alot more oil when it was injected and with the oil injection pod removed it leaves me room for another battery in my setup

nautilus
an outboard mechanic told me to use good quality which obviously makes sense and one of the brands he suggested was nautilus. ratio 50:1 as recommended
sorry about the delay
