Outboard motor running time??

Hey guys do any of you know how long a 5hp evinrude can run for and roughly how much fuel it will use full throttle to go from hillarys to jurien bay (may seem stupid) but will it work?

It took us..

...about half a day to go from Mandurah to Jurien, but that was with a 36 foot Black Watch game boat running on twin 350hp Yanmar diesels. Hopefully that helps with your calculations

Or you can try motoring due west from Hillarys to about 10 nautical miles offshore, starting at midday, and then switch the motor off and let the sea breeze do its thing.  You should arrive in Jurien sometime the following day, dead or alive.

Or you can hassle the old man into beg/borrowing/hiring/stealing a box trailer so you can tow the thing up there with the car, as just about everyone with a brain probably would do.

wise decision

I think u just made a great decision mate. Ull get just as far on a yak as u would ur small tinny. Also up jurien way there is some good spots that u would be able to reach in the yak, just keep an eye on the weather and stay inside the reef system.

If you are dinkum and do try it..... Give Whitfords Sea Rescue a call when you leave Hillaries and they can prepare to come get you as you pass Ocean Reef (if you make it that far!!!!) Good idea re the kayak but just don't think about taking it out wide.
