hey mate best bet is to head out off the cape to the coral lumps or off canal rocks if your boat is up to it .
the bay is very hard to find ground in mate .
might be able to help with a few marks at the lumps if needed , I don't fish there very often .

Cheers bud but got a 5m glass
Cheers bud but got a 5m glass boat and still a pretty green skipper so will just stick to the 4 mile out from Abbey/Siesta or head out another 4 mile or so for a sound around if it's good.

January
We go out of Abbey when in Busso with family for Jan holidays but rarely get anything as not good time of year for the bay. Any tips appreciated, lucky if we get out 3 times in the two weeks we are there.

the bay gets a hiding this time of year mate but you can still find a feed .
i would fish as light as possible with a small running ball sinker and 2 snelled small hooks say maybe 2/0 or 3/0 small squid strip or half Mulies . It comes down to the conditions how light you can fish .You can catch big fish on small hooks.
Maybe try anchoring and berleying on the four mile early morn or late arvo or any tide change.
i use a mix of chook pellets , fish oil , shell grit , and cubed Mulies usually gets it going.
dont be shy to move around either , no point fishing where the fish aren't at.
