New Gps help anyone?
Gday Guys and Gals, My names Dave and Im new to this great site and i was wondering if anybody could help me with the choice of gps for my new/first boat. Ive always been a mad keen fisho and worked on the water off the wa coast most of my semi adult haha life but have only just bought a decent rig apart from a tinnie or 2 for myself a 5.5 mtre plate ally westlne. Ive been looking at the Lowrance globalmap 5200c (external antenna) or the Hummingbird 785c2x (external antenna) or maybe the Garmin gpsmap 550 (internal antenna).. or can anybody suggest a similar mid price range model?
Has anybody got one of these gps units or know someone who does and are the external antenna miles above the internal antennae? Ive already got a sounder so just after a single colour gps unit which can take map cards,
Any help whatsoever would b greatly appreciated and i look forward to contributing to this very imformative and fun site fishwrecked, Thankyou in advance..

Welcome
Firstly welcome to the site.
All those should do what you need. Internal/external usually doesnt make much difference unless you have a hard structure directly above them.
I use a 7200c and love it compared to my old navman I used to use. Garmin and Hummingbird are meant to be good GPS's as well.
Probably more of a Which one do you like the look of question this one.

Are all them units run on
Are all them units run on navionics cards? I have a Navman which runs on C Map,
I am looking to upgrade to a unit that runs Navionics as it shows alot more contour lines, saves all the hard work looking for lumps.

If you can afford it
If you have the dollars look at Raymarine
Awesome stuff
Have it in the work boat and would highly recommend it
