Furuno 620 and HDS 5 together?
Submitted by silly on Thu, 2012-02-02 22:53
Here's my dilema.. I was previously running a HDS 5 sounder and a Navman tracker as my chartplotter. Since then the navman has seemed to stop working so now i only have the HDS 5 combo running both the chartplotter and the sounder which is far from ideal with the 5" screen.
So i guess my options are:
Buy a furuno 620 and run the HDS as a chartplotter only..
have the P66 airmar transducer already but unsure if lowrance plug fits furuno??
Otherwise Can i run 2 transducers? would be nice to keep the scroll back feature on the combo unit.
OR
Keep the HDS 5 as my sounder and buy another Chartplotter.
what ya reckon?
cheers

Gday mate, I run a combo
Gday mate, I run a combo Lowrance and a Furuno sounder, mainly use the Lowrance as a plotter, you can run both sounders together but you get a bit of interference. Best to run Lowrance as plotter, furuno as sounder and you have backup sounder if you need it. You can have two transducers

get the furuno you will never look back
i have a 585 furuno and a hds 7 run the hds on split screen but have 3/4 for the gps and a small sounder screen dont get any interference as my transducers are on opposite sides of the boat

Ok cheers guys,
Don't think I can mount the second transducer on the other side of boat as don't have a spot for it.
Can I share the transducer between the 2?
Does the p66 transducer have the same plug to fit furuno and lowrance??

no they are different plugs
im pretty sure you can get an adapter plug but for the price it may be worth just getting a new trans

Set-up
Leave the Lowrance as a full plotter and the FCV620 would be ideal as your sounder but the plug is different so you need a new tranny but they are quite cheap.
