fuel tank repair - stainless steel

Hi,

Anybody no where I might be able to get a seam welded on a stainless steel fuel tank?

I've got the tank out, can see the seam that has parted but now have to find someone who knows how and is willing to weld the seam.

thanks,

Brad

I think you'll find you will have to get the tank degassed before any shop will touch it as for friends/mates of mates etc its up to them if they will want to weld on it ...

If possible a good option is to fill with water then weld.

Definately possible MJ used to weld diesel tanks the same way. I can weld your tank Brad as long as it's been degassed. I can test the welds as well. PM me if you like. W/shop in Welshpool.

Thanks for the advice

Thanks guys,  It was rather nerve wracking out at Rotto, wondered why the fuel was dropping and opened the hatch to find petrol a foot deep sloshing around in the bilge.

Found a couple of guys locally that are willing to degas and weld, but they were hard to track down.

thanks for the advice.

what area are you located in?

i had mine done by a guy in maddington......degas, inspect, weld.

he found 1 of our baffles had broken away as well and had to remove the whole end to get inside to weld it up.

fair price as well.

cheers ron
