Fishing Accident, Boat Insurance

Damn it. Great trip out to get home and discover that your favourite overhead/rod combo is mising in action. Blown off the Rocket launcher, bumped off, stolen at the ramp etc dont know. What is known is it was on the boat and now the Twin speed Saltist (brand new) and 8-10kg Diawa Monster Mesh (brand new) is not home with us.
Certainly wasnt lost in action because it wasnt used that particular trip, but it was there to complete the "Golf Bag".
Does anyone know if an incident etc is claimable with top cover with Club Marine. This combo was $1G plus.
Pissed off to say the least.

i asked club marine almost
i asked club marine almost same question before joing and was told its covered as long as you didnt lose it while using it
im sure there would be a excess i think mine is $150
getting the bottom line final answer from a bunch of blokes that use false names and put smiley faces at the end of paragraphs is not the best place in the world to get the information you seek.

Your insurer will want to
Your insurer will want to know how it was lost. How much is your excess? Would your no claim bonus reduce if you claim? This should help you decide whether it's worth claiming.

Should cover accidental loss.
Should cover accidental loss. Doesn't cover theft unless you locked it up and there was evidence of 'break in'. They only cover up to $500 per item. Not sure if the reel and rod count as separate items?

Rods and reels are separate items
Well at least on my home contents policy they are. I asked exactly that question and was told it was $1,000 per item.

I think I will get down to business
And get it back. Might say it was a Tiagra instead of a Saltist. LOL.
Never do that but at least if it was $500 per item might just cover the loss. I would replace it anyway, insured or not!!
Cheers Guys and Gals and will check it out and post the result.

Some Home Contents insurance
Some Home Contents insurance policies cover items up to a certain amount for "unsecured" items stolen/damaged from your property. So if it went missing while the boat was parked out the front of your house? Or you left it at the front door to dry after you cleaned it and it went missing? You just need to know where it went missing? I know this because we had our pram stolen from out the front of our place a couple of years back. You'll also need to file a police report to claim it on home contents. Good luck which ever way you go.

That doesnt bother me
I dont care if they read them because the combo just didnt make it home. It just disappeared during or after the trip. When parked at home the first things off the boat is the rods, then the rest. Didnt notice it was gone until the next trip out. Was dog tired and not looking for it, so it could have fallen of the rockets, or stolen at the docks, but the chance of that is remote.
It would be a brave thief to tackle our guard dog because she will go anyone she dont know. And the rods do stay outside to dry after the drenching I give but it is behind the fence and she is in there, and the racket she would create would wake the heighbourhood.
As mentioned when it went missing it wasnt used because we were bottom bouncing, using the Tcurve Lacunas jig version Saragosa 14000 combo with large plastics to jig.
It would add up to be a $1K combo with a Saltist 30 Two speed and matching Monster mesh combo so probably worth claiming I think.
