Furuno for me

Sun, 2007-08-19 22:17

I went from a Navman B/W to a Navman 4500 colour and found it was just so much better in colour.

With my latest boat upgrade I spent the extra and got a Furuno 585 and couldnt be happier. I would have anything less now. The extra defenition that the Furuno produces is excellent and once you set it up the manual controls are very easy to use.

The Furuno 620 runs the same software on a smaller screen.

I run a FF50 on my ride, very impressed
easy to use, simple one key movements, no problems while bouncing around and trying to operate it (one key movements) looks neat & tidy installed, screen not to big for boat dash
great picture  can really dial it in to get great performance
Looked at many sounders over the years(ex-commercial fisherman )and found these for my needs now as a rec fisho on a trailered boat to certainly pass with flying COLOURS.
What ever brand you go for youll never go back to black & white

all good

All good info Brian!

Furuno is the pick of the breeds in the commercial sector and the rec models are very good also with the units just been down sized to simplify. The reliability and local service/warranty makes all the difference IMO and the important features that Furuno offers will help you get the max out of a unit. JRC are very good also but i do have my preference. The digital filter technology has made the  Furuno screen very clean/clear with high definition colour screen to show you and define what your looking at. The true bottom lock is a must and this is lacking on many brands.....such an important feature for sure if you're bottom fishing.

The FCV620 is awesome for a low priced colour sounder. The FCV585 with a larger screen is the next step up with the capability to run a 1KW transducer if need be.

Hope this feedback helps!

Depends on where your fishing Brian. In the shallower water they arent to bad but the bottom definition isnt antwhere near the Furunos etc.

Ive actually still got the unit here. We could organise for you to try it out sometime if you want to see what their like b4 you outlay any cash.

If you want a good deal on a 2nd hand one thats 11 months old let me know.
