changing trailer tyres?

Hi,

my boat has a whacky trailer, its got independant axles, each with a coil and airshocks and 14" tyres. Now, thats great on a track, but on shallow ramps, it makes launching tedious.

Are there any common sort of tyres used on boat trailers, say 10-12", that would support a 4.2m tinny with a 50hp on it fine? I'd probably prefer to get something in a common size and I can always get a special insert put in the right rim, just so it matches my hubs.

Ta,

till

I don't seem to see lt truck under 12" but anything that saves me a bit of height would be great!

Hardest thing Till is

Hardest thing Till is matching the rim to the hub.

Some boat trailers use US ford rims which are a bit harder to source.
Best of is taking the rim with you to a tyre shop so they can tell you the correct stud pattern.

My old employers, we used to make up a lot of odd combos. You just buy the rim, then get an insert to match the rim to the hub, picking the offset you want.

This trailer used to be break-back, but it now has rails that run from near the axle to the drawbar, bit too much cutting for me to want to do that again!

Take the trailer to Trailer

Wed, 2008-11-26 08:08

Take the trailer to Trailer parts, in O'conner I think they are.  They have just about everything you need and are experts on what is available.  I am certain that if they look at it they could tell you what to do straight away.
