The big drive (bit of info needed)
Submitted by tailor marc on Mon, 2011-05-30 14:38
Hi Guys just need to know if my calculations are correct on time it takes to drive perth - exmouth.
Doing the speed limit and stopping for the usual like fuel, food etc
Roughly 13 hours drive?
If so looks like getting up at 3am to leave to get there for 4.30pmish???
Got the full day after that swimming with whalesharks etc then off to Karratha.
Exmouth to karratha 5-6 hours?
Im going to be buggerd lol

Spot on ish Marc
Living in Kcity 17hrs to Perth nonstop.
Perth to Exmouth 11-12 would be a good gestimate. Exxy to Kcity 5-6hrs. The reason it doesnt add up is driving down the Exmouth Rd to Burkitt Rd and across takes about 1.5 hrs.

The 14.5 hrs for me was from
The 14.5 hrs for me was from Ktown to Perth...not exmouth to Perth or vice versa. Just the one stop at carnarvon for fuel, pee and food. Was following a guy at times who was flying but had to keep stopping for fuel but he overtook me near Wooramel and luckily he got pegged by the Highway patrol and not me.
Cheers

Did K-town to Exmouth a
Did K-town to Exmouth a coupla days ago and took me 5 hours 15 mins but sat on about the 115 to 118 mark!! Thats with one stop for a piddle on the side of the road but no other stop.
Perth to Exmouth if doing in one hit allow 15 hours basically 1300 clicks but gotta allow for a bit of fuel, piddle and food, stretch stops.

15 hrs
we normally leave NOR river 4 am and arrive in exy town 7pm total 15 hrs travel try to maintain 95 to 100ks but we are towing a boat
due to car pigging the free gas we stop every 300 ks or so , but we do a bathurst pit stop as you just add to much time to the trip. if we didint have the boat i would probably do in 14hrs

Geez lads you all must have
Geez lads you all must have weak bladders, only driven it once not towing, but did Duncraig - Exxy in bang on 12 hours in the Prado - granted 180l fuel tank helped, sat on 115 the whole way very easy drive. When we tow up we bank on out of the driveway by 4, steak ordered and first beer down by 7 at the potshot but everyone is one bathurst pitstops. Last time we stopped at Carnarvon because we had to pick someone up at the airport and it made for a much more relaxing start to a holiday.

Fuel stop
You might lose a bit of time in Carnarvon as we are down to two servo's for a while with the Caltex being rebuilt. Both are NOT 24hr, Peak shuts at 8.00pm and reopens at 0600 and KCD'S is open fron 0700 through till 6.00pm
Last time I did the run south it took exactly 8 hours from here to Yanchep turnoff with only a quick piss stop and no refuelling. Saw 3 goats and a fox for the whole round trip over two days, three weeks back so you should have too worry about roos as there's heaps of feed allowing them to get well away from the main highway
