Avet
I had some Avets SX's previously and they are a pretty simple reel. They werent too wide for jigging, which would make the SXJ a great size for PE2. It doesnt really have the ability to go beyond about 4kg of drag, which is about what you would run anyway on a reel that size. Be careful not to go over about 4kg otherwise the lateral load will ruin the side bearings. They arent difficult to replace but you should avoid doing it anyway. Use your thumb if you need more drag.
Avet dont get a great rap in Australia because they dont have an Anti Reverse Bearing. meaning you do get some back play.
Servicing is pretty straigh forward as well.
I hope this helps.

I did then the best that I knew how. When I knew better, I did better.

JX6.0
I recently matched a JX6.0 Avet with a PE2-4 fishing WA rod and took it on a trip to Coral Bay.
yes they ae a pretty straight forward reel but it definitely did the job!
looked a bit underpowered for the fishing we were doing in 100m+ water with a lump of lead on the end but I was pleasantly surprised the way it performed.
biggest test over the couple of days was a 15kg+ cobia from 100 metres but never struggled at all.
its my new favourite setup.
cheers

I have an avet mxj with 6:1 ratio - have had trouble with the anti reverse - the gear and dog bent but were replaced under warranty
Found the handle too short for the high gear ratio - so hard to crank under load and it's not 2 speed
Upgraded to a Shimano Trinidad which is going better and I use a Shimano Torsa 20 for heavier work eg bottom boucing & sambo jigging which has been flawless (although a bit heavy for working light jigs)
Cheers

SXJ
I have an SXJ with the MC cast.
Looks and feels like the perfect PE2 reel, quality is hard to fault.
Unfortunately haven't had a chance to use it yet

avet reels
I have the small one ,5.3 and goes great, also I wind with left hand so very happy. It replaced a ABU 7001 that died a painful death on sharks and sambos, running 20lb fireline.

weve got 3 and all absolutely awesome, so much grunt and havent had any problems. the oldest is about 7 years and have never any trouble. the older models had troubles with non stainless bearings rusting out. but theyve fixed the problem now and there sweet.

What do you mean "drag
What do you mean "drag Broken??.
I've got a SX 5.3 for 12lb Jigging and snapper. MXJ for 20lb mainly trolling for Barra in dams up here.
Both nice reels, replace thrust bearings and grease up, INCLUDING the drag washer...... b4 use and they a nice little reel. Them and the Daiwa Saltiga levers come dry virtually. So did my bloody Accurate Boss Magnum.
As long as you don't overload them like the Yank's do and load up the drag. they nice to play with.
But My Small Daiwa's are better.
