Anyone want to service my Merc outboard or know a cheap mechanic?
Last weekend I purchased all the parts to service my 1998 90hp Merc outboard.
I had planned to do the service over last weekend, but ended up having to work the whole weekend. It is looking like that is likely to happen again this weekend.
Next weekend is my last weekend before Exxy, so I am concerned I wont get the service done in time.
Is anyone (who knows what they are doing) keen to do the service? Obviously happy to pay. If nobody on here, can anyone recommend a cheap outboard mechanic?
I know how easy the service is to do so really dont want to pay the king's ransom that some mechanics are asking, but im not sure I will have time to do it myself.
The boat is in Como, so ideally someone would do it there.
Cheers
Dan
When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

as far as prices go so you
as far as prices go so you can use as a guide...
For a 40hp 1989 4cyl Mercury
I got a quote from marine dr. $400 + parts + travel (booked out for two weeks)
and Bravo marine $300 + parts (possibly less upon inspection)
I have told both that I have already purchased and installed new plugs for $30
no affiliation with either mob!

Called Bravo and they were very helpful. Going to get them to do it next week, which means that if I get this weekend off - the makkies better look out ;-)
