aluminium primer

i think its time to paint the dinghy.

can anyone receommed a cheap and cheerful primer to use over aluminium and a top coat system.?

Wattyl super etch bud if your after a cheap single pack primer comes in a few colours but as with all paints its all in the prep, has to be spot on !!!

yes i did some further research after my initial post and it seemed wattyl makes suitable marine products.  will have a closer look now i have a product name.

plan to run over it with a 180 grit first.

steer clear of anything, especially etch primers with zinc in it. Will cause electrolisis big time!!

Are you going to paint over the existing paint???

I have taken mine back to aluminium to start the whole thing again!!

thanks for the heads up on the zinc. 

and shes bare aluminium at the moment.
