Paint
You may need to acid etch it after you have sanded it back

Iam using a wattyl 2 pack urethane undercoat for mine>>
steer clear of anything, especially etch primers with zinc in it. Will cause electrolisis big time!!
Are you going to paint over the existing paint???
I have taken mine back to aluminium to start the whole thing again!!
