I've been on Deco from WAD's boat a couple of times, and it moves out, really handling the shop very well.

dam good boats, but like any

dam good boats, but like any cat you need to know how to drive them in a following sea and into a chop. ie "walking the cat"

excellent into a reaosnable

excellent into a reaosnable chop, terrible with a following sea unless you are a better pilot than me and only so so straight into a big sea as they tend to bash in the flat section between the hulls. Probably no better boat into a 1.5 m sharp chop though.

yeah agree with you about

yeah agree with you about the follwoing sea, thats why you end up zigg zagging back home in most cases ( never skippered one myself, but been on one back in 2005).
The tunnel hulls can be retrofitted with with a wave-breaker to lessen the slap if it gets too much for a skipper.

I have followed a mate in

Mon, 2010-10-11 16:09

I have followed a mate in his 2400 in from dives a few times. Looks like a real handful in a following sea, especially when the sea is at 45 degrees on the rear quarter. Having said that he cruises at 37 knots plus on the way out. He has 150 HPDI yammies strapped on.

Love Mine more than the wife and kids

Mon, 2010-10-11 17:02

Had mine for about 4 yrs now and unless a 42 ft Kevla came up for sale i wouldnt trade her for nothing else. Both Till and Cammos are refering to WetPuss, the ride well yeah lets start from the beggining if ya havent ridden in one before it'll scare the shit out of ya :) but once you get use to the roll and see the benifits of the wide stable platform at rest you'll wonder how you ever use to drive mono hulls. Into the chop there awsome and im yet to find a hull to keep up, the ride is great especially compared to the speed ya doing. Following sea is a little differnent but only untill you know what limits you can push it through and to. If you can read the sea quite well you make the appropiate adjustaments to the trim and throttle and its only the occasional hole that drops from under ya that'll make ya shit ya pants But hey thats all part of the fun :)

The Puss is mainly set up for diving this year we went to the AB's 4 times for 3 and 4 day trips but she gets used for everthing including fishing, skiing and river cruising.

If ya need any more info ask away and ill answer what i can

What size donks are on the one your looking at ???

Yep, that port side list

Mon, 2010-10-11 18:27

Yep, that port side list really freaks me out when it happens, but I've also been on LeisureCats that do it. Once you've skippered one a bit you'd learn to deal with it.

I can't imagine you'd find a better boat on a trailer for an Ab's or KB trip. Into the sea it makes any mono piss.............

have been on a few cats

Mon, 2010-10-11 17:34

love the shark cats they go well in any condition ,how stable is yours when using a drift anchor , do you get any misting from the tunnel, do you get much tunnel slap on yours, i have only been lookig at a few online so far but i would probally go for somthing with at least 150 on the back as i think you really need to keep the weight at the back on these to stop the bow dropping into the waves in a following sea and as you siad use your trim correctly

cheers Neil

A warning

Mon, 2010-10-11 17:57

before you buy one secondhand climb in under the hull on the trailer.Look at the curve were the tunnel becomes the sponson on both sides. You will find some will have cracks down the length of the hull.I love the kevlar cats and would buy a 24 in a heartbeat. There is a 5.2 floating around with twin 115 yammie 4 st on the back with extended transom. That thing is deadly for a first time cat owner. The hulls are designed the way they are for a reason dont mess with them.

Must be the one I looked at

Must be the one I looked at before buying my Southwind. Looked good but always suspicious when beam and length ratios change.

devilcat 6.6mtr

Tue, 2010-10-12 10:23

All interesting reading and good to hear that I'm not the only one thats loves cat's.

I have had several now and unless I'm stupid each time I have had a better cat. I now have a Devilcat which is for sale, I'm down sizing . My father was a wet line pro fisher and always used the cats and this has also given me a good insight. When you talk of a following sea some cats are ok , the problem generally is that there is not enough bouyancy up front so look for a fuller hull. Of coarse trim will also help. The old 18ft sharkcat had this problem but also if you powered off the nose would dip, my father asked for the boat to be extended and thats the birth of the 21ft, that was a good boat. The Devilcat is good in a following sea, I have not had a second thought in a following sea or directly into a sea.Boaters are always talking about the sea breeze and which way to go fishing to allow for this,I don't,I go out doing 23 to 25 knots and come back doing 23 to 25 knots.

Anyway I could go on for hours so for anyone looking for a new boat without the new boat price consider this one. You would be up for approx $140,000 new so at $95,000 its a good buy for a boat that has only done 45hrs.

Regards to all
