23 ft pro line broaching considerations

Time to upgrade from my Baron sportsman, I cant justify pumping another $15K into it to upgrade the inboard as I just don't trust it anymore to head out far. I am considering a 23' Pro Line but am concerned about the transom in a following sea, seems to me it could be a concern considering the large gap. I was hoping any Pro Line owners or those familiar with transoms like this could give me some advice.

Thanks in advance

If you can find one mate

If you can find one mate look at a wellcraft or even the sea fox and sailfish pro line are good but tend to crack as I have also looked at them and did my research on them

Main things you want to

Main things you want to consider is

Broaching per say would not be the problem but taking a wave over the stern

1. Height of the gap at the front (as in spilling water into the cockpit) above the water line and the ability of the engine well to catch any water before it spills into the cockpit including through holes made for steering cables etc. and their height (ideally any steering cable holes should be as high or higher then the front part of the engine well).

2. Height of the suppers above the water line (ABYC standard states the length of the boat in metres x 1.83 gives you the height the deck (or scuppers) should be above the water line (with the boat at its normal waterline position) - i.e a 7.31m boat (7.31 x 1.83 =13.37) should have scuppers sitting at least 13.3cm above the waterline.

The above design would certainly rule out heavy reversing into a sea.

Apart from that its not what I'd call a great transom design for fishing (the back corners).

Thanks for that Paul H. I agree and will continue searching. I've been really happt with the old baron and will look for something with a similar transom. Some Trophy's look good, except those with that euro transom or whatever they call it.
