2006 Sea Fox 256

hey Guys

 

Wondering if anyone here has owned or have had dealings with the 2006 Sea Fox. Do I run away?

 

I've read on hull truth that the older sea fox had issues with quality but not sure of the year when things started improving.

The 256 CC & WA hulls were

Hey mate heaps of info on the hull truth. I looked at bringing one of these boats into the country a few years ago and also did read about the change of build quality around that year. Anyway after a quick search online I found this little snippet from 2008 "The 256 CC & WA hulls were redesigned for the '06 model year. They brought in an outside naval architech to correct hydrodynamic stability from the previous model. Sea Fox then had the plugs mill cut using the latest in computer software. Since inception Sea Fox has upgraded the stringer in both the CC & WA models as well."

You might want to check the year model. According to the catalog from 2006 there was no 256. Only a 257CC and WA. Looking at the manuls the 256 started in January 2007.

Assuming you are getting a hull and motor inspection I can vouch that the smaller seafox 216 I had was excellent. The only gripe was a lack of deck space which might not be an issue on the 256. Keep also in mind that these boats are 2.6m wide and will require a wide load permit and banners.

I made a mistake it's a 2004 sea fox 257 should I stay away from all models prior to 2006?

It depends on what you want out of the boat. If it was my money I wouldn't be putting it on a 2004 Sea Fox but that's just me.  If you buy it knowing they have a bit of a reputation for low quality in those years then you know what you are getting into.
